Introduction and Launch: The Rolex calibre 9001 is a high-performance, self-winding mechanical chronograph movement, entirely developed and manufactured in-house by Rolex. Introduced in 2012, it is one of the most complex calibres ever created by the brand, yet it remains remarkably user-friendly.
A key feature of the calibre 9001 is the Saros Annual calendar, which accurately displays the date and month. The date can be quickly adjusted via a bidirectional mechanism, while the month is indicated through 12 apertures around the dial.
Additionally, it features a dual time zone function, with a 24-hour off-centre disc providing an easy-to-read reference time.
Despite its intricate design, the movement is engineered for convenience. A selector wheel on the outer edge of the 9001 works in tandem with the watch’s bezel, allowing seamless control of the Sky-Dweller’s functions. Like all Rolex Perpetual movements, the calibre 9001 is a Swiss Chronometer, meeting the stringent precision standards of the COSC. Its construction, in line with Rolex’s Oyster movements, ensures exceptional reliability and performance.
