CALIBRE 4161

Introduction and Launch: The Rolex calibre 4161 is a self-winding chronograph movement based on the Daytona’s calibre 4130, specifically designed for the Yacht-Master II. Introduced at Baselworld 2013 with the all-steel Yacht-Master II Ref. 116680, it replaced the earlier calibre 4160 found in gold models 116688 and 116689. This advanced movement features a column wheel and vertical clutch, ensuring precise chronograph activation. A defining innovation of the 4161 is its regatta countdown function, allowing the wearer to programme a 0 to 10-minute countdown. The countdown can be locked or unlocked by rotating the bezel 90 degrees, seamlessly integrating the bezel with the movement—one of the first watches to offer this feature. If the timer is started too early or late, it can be synchronised on the fly using the pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock. Designed specifically for competitive sailing, the 4161 delivers precision and functionality tailored to regatta timing.
