THE ROLEX 1803 DAY-DATE WATCH

The Rolex 1803 Day-Date Watch

Production Years:

The Rolex Day-Date 1803 was released in 1958; it is the third iteration of the Day-Date model. It was discontinued in 1978.

Defining Features:

The Rolex 1803 has many features that make it a desirable timepiece. For one, the materials used to make these watches are either gold or platinum, meaning you always get precious metals when you buy an 1803. It also comes with the classic President bracelet or a stylish leather strap to make it a little more casual. The pie-pan dial also lends this timepiece a unique aesthetic, along with the acrylic crystal.

The Day-Date 1803 would be the last Day-Date to use acrylic crystal before Rolex would replace it with a sapphire crystal. Of course, you also get the signature Date window and full day display and a comfortable 36mm case size. The only thing that leads this Rolex to reveal its age is the 1500 series movement, which have long been replaced with more advanced movements.

About Rolex Model Number 1803

The Rolex Day-Date was a successful watch from the first time Rolex introduced it. After its initial introduction in 1956, the Day-Date went through a second iteration before landing on this version, the third iteration, in 1958.

It seems Rolex and collectors were pleased with this version, as it stayed in production for 20 years before more modern luxury features forced it into retirement. If you’re looking for a vintage-styled Rolex made from precious metals, the Rolex 1803 can be had for a surprisingly affordable price

  • 36mm Oyster case
  • President bracelet or leather strap
  • Yellow gold or platinum case and bracelet
  • Dial in gold, silver, black, white, and more
  • Rolex 1500 calibre with automatic movement
  • Water-resistant to 10 ATM
