The Omega Speedmaster 145.022-69 was produced circa 1971-1974.
The post-Moon version of the Omega Speedmaster Professional 145.022-69 reference, succeeding its pre-Moon counterpart, is distinguished by a caseback proudly declaring its historic role as the “first watch worn on the Moon.”
Referred to as “Straight Writing” by collectors, this model features script laid out straight, a departure from later versions where the entire text is arranged in an arc around the central medallion. Two variations of the caseback exist, with the more common one stating “FLIGHT-QUALIFIED BY NASA FOR ALL MANNED MISSIONS,” while an extremely rare version reads “OMEGA SPEEDMASTER – APOLLO XI 1969.”
All these models house the reliable 861 caliber, with a noteworthy change towards the end of production being the replacement of the steel chronograph brake with a Delrin® polymer version for increased durability.
