Lastly, they are perfect for those who just want to add a bit of a luxury touch to their everyday style.

From the nautical inspired Yacht-Master, to the everyday elegance of the Lady-Datejust, this versatile shade has something for every watch lover. Rolex is certainly no stranger to utilising various different hues within their collections, and the chocolate dial will no doubt continue to be a fan favourite.

Here, we take a closer look at some of these pieces adorned with this sumptuous chocolate dial, and look in to what makes them so popular with watch collectors.

THE LADY-DATEJUST

“A classic timepiece, designed for a lady.” Whether you like your chocolate dripping with diamonds or just plain, there’s a Lady-Datejust for every palate. Featuring an eye-catching chocolate dial, the model is available in either the Everose combination of steel and gold, or Everose gold, both which perfectly complement the dark, velvety hue. The beauty and shine of Everose gold is something that must be seen to be believed; it goes far beyond what we know as rose gold.

The face of a Rolex watch is defined by its dial. Whilst the brand may be instantly recognizable for their blue or green faces, the subtle tones of the chocolate dial make this an elegant and subtle option for those who are looking for something a bit different. A delicate sunray effect is produced across many of the dials in the collection by a process of masterful brushing techniques. The light reflections which this process creates are a result of tiny grooves, radiating outwards from the centre of the dial. The hour markers, crafted from gold, which prevents any discoloration, are integral to its readability and image.

Along with the Oyster Perpetual movement, there is also a power reserve of approximately 55 hours as well as water-resistance up to 100 metres.

THE YACHT-MASTER

In 1992, Rolex unveiled the Yacht–Master collection, its luxurious take on a nautically–inspired watch. While not used for practical purposes like its Submariner or GMT–Master counterparts, the inaugural 40 mm timepiece was crafted of full 18k yellow gold and included a rotating bezel to time elapsed events. To add to the collection, Rolex released midsize and ladies‘ models in 1994.

Perhaps the most popular of these models is the 126621, the Yacht-Master 40 featuring an Oystersteel and Everose gold bracelet, which is waterproof up to 100 meters. It also features a bidirectional rotatable 60-minute bezel with sandblasted background and polished raised numerals, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with cyclops lens over the date, chocolate dial and Rolex calibre 3235 automatic movement.

The use of the chocolate sunburst dial complements the rich use of colour of the strap, making it a truly eye catching piece for any avid watch collector.

THE SKY-DWELLER

The Rolex Sky–Dweller is an example of a modern luxury watch for those who appreciate the innovative features and stylish designs that Rolex is known for. First presented at Baselworld in 2012, the timepiece was a pioneering innovation. It was the first of its kind to feature an annual calendar, the new caliber 9001, and a bezel–operated control mechanism called the Ring Command. This elegantly designed watch is sure to please any enthusiast of fine Swiss craftsmanship. Its features and intricate design showcase why Rolex is one of the premier watchmakers in the world.

Whether you opt for the classic Oyster or the sportier Oysterflex bracelet, the Sky-Dweller chocolate dial watch is sure to turn heads. The discontinued reference 326135, with its Everose gold case, mixed with a dark brown dial and “tobacco” brown chocolate leather strap is also another exquisite example from the famed Swiss watch maker.

The Rolex Sky–Dweller rivals all other watches, combining sophistication and utility to become the perfect companion for globe–trotting adventurers.

THE DAYTONA

Since its launch in 1963, the Cosmograph Daytona has evolved beyond its place in watchmaking to become a cultural icon. There is no doubt it has secured its place in history as one of the best options for timepiece investment. The exceptional demand, coupled with Rolex’s famously low production numbers, guarantees that certain classic models will appreciate in value faster than others.

The reference 116505, with its Everose gold strap and chocolate dial, is a testament to the appeal of the soft pink gold shade of the bracelet, combined with the earthy tones of the dial. For pure aesthetic value, this model is hard to beat. Although discontinued, you can still find excellent examples on the pre-owned market.

Chocolate Dial Rolex watches feature a distinctively rich hue that gives the appearance of striking liquid chocolate. These timepieces are crafted from the finest materials and materials, and feature the same superior levels of craftsmanship and innovation for which Rolex is known.
